Robinson Consultants Inc. is an employee-owned Canadian multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm providing professional engineering services to public and private sector organizations since 1977.
To meet the diverse needs of government and industry clients, Robinson Consultants Inc. employs a highly qualified team of managers, engineers, and technical staff who have experience in various engineering disciplines, including:

Meet Our Corporate Leadership Team
Our History
Robinson Consultants Inc. was founded in 1977 as A.J. Robinson and Associates by Andy Robinson, P.Eng., FEC. Andy lead the company for 34 years until 2011 when Derek Potvin became President, Derek served as President from 2011 to 2024. In 2025, the leadership team is now guided by President Kelly Lalonde, Executive Vice President Kevin Bainbridge, and Vice Presidents Darryl Shurb and Robert Cotnam, with both Andy and Derek still actively involved in the organization and the Board of Directors.
For the first few years, our firm offered general municipal services. RCI started to then grow in size and specialty, expanding to offer a broader, more complete range of services.
We transitioned to a broad employee-owned firm, increased our market presence, and grew within the civil engineering sector. In addition, we expanded our services, including trenchless technology, which facilitated our growth in the Greater Hamilton Area with our second office opening in Hamilton in 2011. Our third office opened in Kingston in 2016, specializing in transportation engineering design services.
With a staff of over 80 engineers, technologists, and support professionals, Robinson Consultants Inc. continues to build on its strong foundation.
