Robinson Consultants is seeking an experience and self-motivated CAD Designer – Roads / Highways – Transportation Engineering Services to join the collaborative and dynamic team in our Hamilton office. As an Engineer in Training, you will work on a variety of engineering projects that may include roads and linear water and wastewater projects.
What you’ll be doing:
- Prepare preliminary and detailed design drawing packages and documents
- Support project engineers and multi-discipline teams with the completion of project deliverables during all phases of design including as-built drawings
- Reviewing CAD file receivables from clients and stakeholders
- Ensure timely delivery of quality project deliverables
- Provide project coordination and design support as assigned
- Undertake quantity take-offs and cost estimates as assigned
You should have:
- Diploma from a Civil Engineering Technology Program or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- 1 – 5 years or more of consulting engineering experience and technical knowledge on municipal roads and/or highway infrastructure projects.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal skills, problem solving ability and strong work ethic which is essential for collaboration with multi-disciplinary engineering team members.
- Ability to provide attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational skills and consideration to high quality control standards.
- Commitment to get the work done and ability to work independently in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Computer excellence and hands on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Proficiency in Bentley Microstation is also preferred.
- Knowledge of Bentley InRoads and/or Open Roads, AutoTurn and other design programs will be an asset.
- Knowledge of essential computer programs – MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and/or BlueBeam, etc.

The job entails performing most of the job duties within an office environment. However, field work/site visits do form part of the expected job duties and may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather, navigating safely within construction sites or within sites that have a physically challenging terrain.
